Cholestyramine (Questran®, Questran Weak®, Cholybar®) occurs as bile acid sequestrant, which binds bile in the gastrointestinal tract to prevent its resorption. These are primarily wont to deal with hypercholesterolemia, but can as well utilized to address a pruritus, or itching, that typically occurs in the period of liver failure due to the liver's inability to eliminate bile.

Available forms
Cholestyramine is available when powder form, around Quatern gram packets. In the United States, it can be purchased either when a generic medicine, or even even as Questran® or Questran Weak® (Bristol-Myers Squibb).

Dosage
